Hamilton driver charged with impaired after two-vehicle crash

Police report that the driver rear-ended another vehicle

TOWNSHIP OF GUELPH-ERAMOSA - On Nov. 1, 2019 at approximately 9:40 p.m. the Wellington County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) responded to a two motor vehicle rear-end collision at the intersection of Wellington Road 86 and Wellington Road 30.

Police attended the scene and while speaking to both drivers, an odour of alcohol was detected on the accused's breath. A roadside screening device test was conducted which resulted in a fail. The driver was placed under arrest and transported to a local OPP Operation Centre for further testing.

Emily Louise Metherel, 27-years-old of Hamilton has been charged with impaired operation - 80 plus (mgs of alcohol in 100mL of blood) contrary to the Criminal Code.

A 90-day administrative driver's licence suspension (ADLS) and seven-day vehicle impoundment was initiated as per statute. The accused will appear in the Ontario court of justice - Guelph on Dec. 6, 2019 to speak to the charge.
