Hit and run leads to drug-impairment charge

On Oct. 28, 2016 at 8 a.m., the Guelph Police went to the area of Harvard Road for the report of a hit and run collision. Police located the vehicle shortly after and a traffic stop was conducted on Gordon Street at Poppy Lane.

Police spoke with the male driver, it was determined he was impaired by drugs and he was arrested. A search subsequent to his arrest discovered a pill that is a controlled substance.

Cooper Anderson, 19 years old of Thornbury has been charged with impaired driving (by drug), dangerous driving and fail to remain.

He was also charged with possession of a controlled substance. He will appear in court on Dec. 6, 2016.
