A Guelph woman is charged with impaired driving following a hit and run collision Wednesday afternoon.

Just after 4 p.m., a motorist was waiting to make a left turn at Arkell Road and Victoria Road South when she was struck from behind. The victim pulled into a nearby plaza but the other driver swerved around her and fled. She was eventually located by police in a parking lot on Edinburgh Road South.

While speaking to the driver, officers noted an odour of alcoholic beverage and signs of impairment. After failing a roadside breath test she was arrested and transported to the police station, where further testing indicated she had nearly three times the legal limit of alcohol in her system.

A 63-year-old Guelph woman is charged with impaired driving. Her driver’s licence was suspended for 90 days and her vehicle was impounded for seven days.
