Just stop speeding on the Hanlon Expressway, okay?

Two drivers were driving in excess of 130 km/h in an 80 km/h zone

On Dec. 3, 2017 at approximately 8:10 p.m., a Wellington County OPP officer was monitoring traffic on the Hanlon Expressway, Guelph near Laird Road, City of Guelph. The officer observed a male driving a 2007 Nissan Altima at a speed that appeared to be well above the posted 80 km/h speed limit. The vehicle was locked on radar in excess of 135 km/h.

Twenty-five-year-old Ala Alaa Khalil of Kitchener has been charged with race a motor vehicle contrary to the Highway Traffic Act and will appear in Guelph Provincial Court on Jan. 3, 2018. His driver's licence and vehicle were seized for a period of seven days as per statute.  

On Dec. 4, 2017 at approximately 12:15 a.m., an officer was monitoring traffic at the above location. The officer observed a female driving a 2010 Jeep Patriot at a speed that appeared to be well above the posted 80 km/h speed limit. The vehicle was locked on radar in excess of 130 km/h.

Twenty-four-year-old Larissa Nicole Hannah of Guelph has been charged with race a motor vehicle contrary to the Highway Traffic Act and will appear in Guelph Provincial Court on Jan. 3, 2018. Her driver's licence and vehicle were seized for a period of seven days as per statute.
