K-9 unit finds guy hiding in somebody else's truck

It all started with a stolen car in a ditch

On Dec. 30, 2018 at approximately 6 a.m., the Waterloo Regional Police Service were called about a car in a ditch on Northfield Drive East. WRPS responded and it was learned the motor vehicle was stolen and the driver was no longer on scene. 

The Guelph Police Canine Unit was requested to assist in tracking the suspect. Canine General was deployed at 6:55 a.m. to track the suspect. The track lasted 50 minutes, covering 5.5 kms. The suspect was located hiding in a truck on a residential property that did not belong to him. The male was arrested without further incident. 

A 24-year-old male was arrested for two counts of possession of stolen property, fail to remain at the scene of an accident and breach his probation order. The male was held in custody for a bail hearing.
