Loaded handgun, large quantities of drugs seized by police

Two men, one from Guelph and the other from Breslau, face numerous charges

Two men face an array of charges after police raided an east end home on Wednesday morning, as well as other locations, and reportedly seized “large quantities” of drugs, cash and a loaded handgun.

Earlier this summer, police launched an investigation into two men believed to be trafficking controlled substances, resulting in search warrants for three residences and three businesses, a police news release explains.

Those warrants, including at least one on Hardy Street, near Grange Road, were executed Wednesday morning.

Officers seized about seven kilograms of cocaine with an estimated street value of $780,000, a half-kilogram of MDMA valued at nearly $40,000 and large quantities of dried cannabis, cannabis products and anabolic steroids. The value of the cannabis and steroids hasn’t been determined at this time.

Also seized was more than $27,000 in cash, a Glock semi-automatic handgun with high-capacity magazine, a replica handgun and a functioning conducted energy weapon.

A 37-year-old Guelph man is charged with possession for the purpose of trafficking, possessing proceeds of crime and possession of illicit cannabis.

A 33-year-old Breslau man is charged with 11 counts of possession for the purpose of trafficking, possessing cannabis for the purpose of selling and several firearms offences.
