Loitering call results in drug related charges

On Jan. 25, 2018 at approximately 7:40 a.m., Guelph police were called to a commercial establishment in downtown Guelph where there was a report of an intoxicated male that was loitering.

Police spoke to the person and arrested him under the Liquor Licence Act. Subsequent interaction with the male lead this investigation in a different direction.

A 27-year-old Guelph male was further charged with possession of a controlled substance for the purpose of trafficking, possession of a controlled substance, possession of stolen property and a relevant Liquor Licence Act offence. He was held for a bail hearing.

In an unrelated incident, on Jan. 25, 2018 at approximately 1:30 p.m., Guelph police were called to a business on Surrey Street where there was a report of a disruptive male that was refusing to leave.

The male was arrested under the Trespass to Property Act. Further investigation revealed the male was breaching a condition of his undertaking through his actions. A 46-year-old Guelph male was charged with the breach and held for a bail hearing.
