Male arrested for allegedly assaulting City of Guelph employee

Early on the evening of August 1st, 2019, employees of the City of Guelph were doing maintenance on a trail located behind a school near the downtown area of the city. A male walking on the trail became agitated and began yelling at the employees, believing they were following him. Then unprovoked, he threw a large soda at one employee, striking them in the chest, and attempted to punch them in the head, narrowly missing. The employees then held the male until officers arrived on scene and arrested him.                                          

A 24 year old Guelph male has been charged with:

  • Assault
  • Breach Probation

Both females will appear in court on Sept. 13, 2019.

There were no injuries sustained during this incident.
