A 33-year-old Guelph man faces a mischief charge after allegedly burning an automated teller machine and making it inoperable last month.

The incident happened inside the vestibule of a downtown bank shortly before 9 a.m. on June 15.

A man “stood patiently” in line for the machine and once it became available, police allege he pulled out a lighter and burned a portion of the device.

Police spotted the suspect in the downtown core on Thursday and made an arrest.
