Man arrested for driving transport truck into ex-employee

A Guelph man faces assault charges after his former employee was allegedly intentionally hit by a transport truck Monday.

Approximately 10 a.m., two males became involved in a verbal dispute at a business in the area of Laird Road and Clair Road West. The dispute turned physical when one of the males was struck in the face by the other, report Guelph police.

The argument continued into the yard, where a transport truck was parked. One of the males got into the truck and reportedly intentionally drove towards the other at slow speed, eventually striking him and causing him to fall to the ground. He was transported to hospital for treatment of a leg injury.

A 46-year-old Guelph male is charged with assault and assault with a weapon. He will appear in a Guelph court July 15.
