Man arrested for impaired after witnesses see him stumble away from running car

A Guelph man was arrested for impaired driving Wednesday night after another motorist witnessed him stumble from his motor vehicle which was left running in the middle of the road.

A person called police about 10:20 p.m. after seeing the suspect stop his vehicle in the area of Arkell Road and Gordon Street in the City of Guelph, get out and stumble away. The running vehicle was left with its driver’s door open.

Police located the owner of the vehicle in the area and placed him under arrest for impaired driving. He was further charged with refusing to provide a breath sample and breaching a probation order.

The 25-year-old Guelph man had his driver’s license suspended for 90 days and his vehicle impounded for seven days. He will appear in a Guelph courtroom February 26, 2021.
