A male who was arrested Sunday evening for breaking into a downtown business and causing significant damage was arrested again hours later for breaching his release terms by going back to the same business, say Guelph police.

The male was arrested Sunday after causing more than $5,000 in damage to the business and an ATM. He was released at approximately 1:30 a.m. with conditions not to attend the business, but around 8 a.m. officers downtown saw the male back at the same location and arrested him for a breach.

During a search incident to arrest officers located a laptop computer, Visa gift cards and several chocolate bars. Investigation revealed those items had been stolen since his release from custody.

A 30-year-old male of no fixed address is charged with failing to comply with an undertaking, theft under $5,000 and two counts of possessing stolen property. He was held for a bail hearing later Monday and subsequently released with a court date of April 9.
