A Guelph male faces a dangerous driving charge after almost colliding with a Guelph police cruiser Saturday afternoon, report police.

Just after 1 p.m., an officer had just turned from Macdonell Street to go west on Wellington Street West when he observed a car driving east in the westbound lane. The officer had to swerve to avoid a collision.

The officer turned around and saw the car run a red light at Macdonell Street, narrowly missing other cars in the intersection, then go into oncoming traffic in an attempt to overtake another car, causing the driver of that car to swerve to avoid being sideswiped.

The car was eventually pulled over. The driver identified himself but was unable to provide any documents.

A 33-year-old Guelph male is charged with dangerous driving.
