Man charged with assaulting security guard at bank

A Guelph man has been charged with assaulting a security guard at a bank in March.

Just before 1 a.m. March 21, a security guard on patrol spotted  a man lying down in a bank vestibule on Victoria Road North. The guard asked the man to leave and threatened to call police. The man stood up and began striking the guard with both fists, hitting him approximately 10 times in the head and face. The victim sustained several cuts and bruises.

Officers were able to identify the subject via video surveillance. On Friday morning he was located downtown and arrested. A 31-year-old Guelph man is charged with assault and breaching probation.
