A Guelph man was arrested for impaired driving Tuesday night after being involved in two separate collisions.
Just before 7 p.m. a motorist was driving on Woodlawn Road West near Arrow Road when another driver began tailgating and blaring his horn. The complainant pulled over and the other driver passed, sideswiping the vehicle and continuing on his way.
The subject continued driving in an aggressive manner and struck another vehicle near Woolwich Street before again fleeing the scene. Officers located the male near his home and observed fresh damage on his car consistent with the collisions.
In speaking to the driver, officers detected an odour of alcoholic beverage on his breath and signs of impairment including slurred speech. He was arrested and transported to the police station, where tests confirmed he had more than twice the legal limit of alcohol in his system.
A 25-year-old man is charged with impaired driving and failing to stop after a collision.
