A 54-year-old Guelph man faces several charges following a Saturday afternoon theft from a north end business.

Police were called to a Woodlawn Road West department store at about 2 p.m. with regard to an alleged theft in progress. Store staff attempted to stop a suspect from leaving with items, which prompted a “brief struggle,” explains a police news release.

The male fled with some items prior to police arrival.

A suspect was identified through subsequent investigation and an arrest was made on Sunday.

The accused is charged with theft, breaching a probation order and failing to comply with a release order.
