A Guelph male faces charges after he allegedly stole railway equipment and then sold it for scrap, say Guelph police.

On March 22, and again two days later, police say the male attended a railway near the intersection of Woodlawn Road West and Edinburgh Road North. On both days he parked near a storage area and loaded the bed of his pickup with equipment including railway spikes, metal plates and switching equipment. On both dates the male was caught on video selling the material for scrap.

The male was located Wednesday and arrested. A 26-year-old Guelph male is charged with two counts each of theft under $5,000 and trafficking in property obtained by crime. He will appear in a Guelph court August 24, 2021.
