Man riding electric scooter suffers life-threatening injuries

Guelph police continue to investigate after a man sustained life-threatening head injuries while riding an electric scooter Wednesday night.

Approximately 9:15 p.m. Wednesday, emergency services were called to Victoria Road South near MacAlister Boulevard after receiving reports of an unresponsive man at the roadside with head trauma.

Police report a 52-year-old man was transported from the scene to a Hamilton trauma centre with life-threatening head injuries. He remains in critical condition. The sequence of events that led to the male’s injuries has not been determined, however he was located next to an electric kick scooter.

Victoria Road was closed Wednesday night for several hours for an investigation.

Police would like to hear from any member of the public who may have seen a male operating an electric kick scooter on Victoria Road South between Arkell Road and Stone Road East shortly after 9 p.m. Police are also seeking members of the public who may have any dashcam video in the area at the time, whether the subject male was observed or not.
