Man wanted for thefts around southern Ontario in Guelph police custody

A man wanted for shoplifting in several Ontario jurisdictions, is in Guelph police custody following his arrest on Wednesday.

Guelph police report that on April 14, 2023, they received reports of a theft from a store in the south end. It is alleged that approximately $430 in product was taken. Investigation revealed the identify of the alleged thief and the fact this individual had stolen items throughout the province.

Various Police Services had identified this person as committing thefts in their areas, including but not limited to Toronto Police and Halton Regional Police Service. An arrest warrant was issued for a 41-year-old man.

On Wednesday the male, who had been arrested by another police service, was transported to Guelph and charged with theft. He continues to be held in custody.
