Minivan found in ditch, driver taken back to station

TOWNSHIP OF GUELPH-ERAMOSA - On Apr. 8, 2017 at approximately 4:30 a.m., members of the Wellington County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) were called to the scene of a single motor vehicle collision on County 124 at Jones Baseline, Township of Guelph-Eramosa.

Officers arrived on scene and located a male driver of a 2012 Dodge Caravan. The vehicle was in the ditch of the westbound lane of County Road 124. 

While speaking with the male driver, officers believed him to be impaired by alcohol. He was arrested and brought to a local Police Detachment for further testing.

46-year-old James Mcdonald, of Burlington, has been charged with over 80 mgs and impaired driving contrary to the Criminal Code. He is scheduled to appear in Guelph Criminal Court on May 19, 2017.  

His driver's licence has been suspended for 90 days and the vehicle impounded for a period of seven days as per statute.
