Guelph Police responded to 733 calls for service over the weekend

The following news releases were issued today by the Guelph Police Service:

Video of break and enter leads to arrest and return of property
On June 4, 2020 at 5:45 a.m., a female entered the covered porch of a residence near Tiffany Street East and Dufferin Street in the City of Guelph. The female left with a pair of Birkenstock leather sandals belonging to the resident. Upon review of security video the female was identified by Police. Police located the female a short time later while in possession of the stolen sandals.

A 19-year-old Guelph female has been charged with break and enter, and breach of probation. She will be in Guelph Court on Sept. 15, 2020.

Theft of trailer
The Guelph Police Service are investigating the theft of a trailer from an industrial building on Woodlawn Road West at Regal Road in the City of Guelph. A 2013 MISK LBD 20-foot Prowler low bed float trailer was stolen sometime between June 3, 2020 and June 4, 2020.

Arrest on warrant leads to additional charges
On June 5, 2020 at approximately 5:46 p.m., while on general patrol on Carden Street in Downtown Guelph, officers observed a male known to be wanted on a warrant to arrest for failure to comply with a release order. The male was placed under arrest without incident on the strength of the warrant.

A searched of the male incident to arrest lead to the discovery of documents not belonging to the accused, including two Ontario Health Cards, an Ontario Drivers Licence, eight bank cards and 12 gift cards.

A 40-year-old Guelph male has been charged with fail to comply with release order, possess government issued identification – three counts, possession of stolen property under $5,000 and breach of probation – two counts.

He will appear in Guelph Court on Sept. 18, 2020.
