On October 15, 2016, the Guelph Police went to a Regal Road storage facility to investigate a break and enter. The culprit(s) entered four units in this fenced compound area and a theft is reported.

Break and enter

On Oct. 15, 2016, the Guelph Police went to a Summerfield Drive residence to investigate a break and enter. The culprit(s) entered the garage and stole a bike sometime between 6:30 a.m. and 8:45 a.m.

Break and enter

On Oct. 16, 2016, the Guelph Police went to a Chartwell Crescent residence to investigate a break and enter. The culprit(s) smashed a patio door sometime overnight to gain entry. A wallet is reported stolen.

Stolen vehicles

Over the weekend the Guelph Police received multiple stolen vehicle reports.

On Oct. 15 at white GMC Sierra was stolen from a car lot on Woodlawn Road West.

On Oct. 15 a grey 2006 Honda Odyssey van, plate number BVMW 345 was stolen from a Valleyhaven Lane residence sometime overnight.

On Oct. 16 a boat and trailer were stolen from a Victoria Road South residence.

On Oct. 16 a black 2016 Nissan Pathfinder plate number BZXL 277 was stolen sometime overnight from an Oakridge Crescent residence.

Recovered stolen vehicle - On Oct. 15 a 2004 Nissan Maxima that had been reported stolen in April 2016 from an Eramosa Road residence was located by O.P.P. on Watson Road just north of Guelph.

Suspicious person call

On Oct. 16, 2016 at 3:30 p.m., the Guelph Police received the report of a suspicious vehicle with two male occupants in the rear parking lot at 21 Paisley Road. Police located the car driving on Dublin Street and a traffic stop was conducted. Investigation discovered that the two male occupants were on conditions not to associate with each other. Both males were arrested.

A 22-year-old Guelph man has been charged with breach of probation.

A 32-year-old Guelph man has been charged with breach of probation.

Both were held in custody pending a bail hearing on Oct. 17, 2016.

Suspicious person call leads to weapons arrest

On Oct. 17, 2016 at 2:39 a.m., the Guelph Police went to Stanley Street for the report of a suspicious person possibly breaking into cars. Police located the male and while speaking with him observed a large object protruding under his sweatshirt. The object was discovered to be a large machete and the male was arrested. A subsequent search then discovered a small knife as well as a morning star.

The 18-year-old Guelph man has been charged with carry a concealed weapon, weapons dangerous, possession of a prohibited weapon and breach of probation. He has been held in custody pending a bail hearing on Oct. 17, 2016.

Bike theft

On Oct. 16, 2016 at 1:18 p.m., a bicycle was stolen from the Stone Road Mall. Video gave security a description of the responsible male. That same male was then observed at 6:45 p.m. by Stone Road Mall security on the property with the bike and police were called. Police located the man and he was arrested. A subsequent search discovered tools consistent with break and enter behaviour.

A 38-year-old Fergus man has been charged with theft under $5,000, possession of stolen property, possession of break and enter instruments and breach of probation. He has been held in custody pending a bail hearing on Oct. 17, 2016.

Impaired drivers arrested

On Oct. 14, 2016 at 10:24 p.m., the Guelph Police went to a reported hit and run collision at Ottawa Crescent by Meyer Drive. The responsible driver had allegedly struck a vehicle parked on the roadway and then left the scene. A witness followed the vehicle to a parking lot on William Street and directed police to that location. Police located the car and female driver in this parking lot. After speaking with her it was determined that she was impaired by alcohol and she was arrested.

Jenna Hall, 24 years of Guelph has been charged with impaired driving, drive over 80mg and fail to remain at the scene of an accident. She will appear in court on Nov. 1, 2016.

On Oct. 16, 2016 at 1:03 a.m., the Guelph Police conducted a traffic stop with a vehicle on Wyndham Street South. Police spoke with the male driver and a demand was made for a roadside breath sample. He failed this test and was arrested.

Chad Finley, 38 years of Guelph has been charged with drive over 80 mg. He will appear in court on Nov. 1, 2016.

On Oct. 16, 2016 at 2:17 a.m., the Guelph Police conducted a traffic stop with a vehicle on Waterloo Avenue. Police spoke with the male driver and a demand was made for a roadside breath sample. He failed this test and was arrested.

Mpho Mbotho, 38 years of Toronto has been charged with drive over 80 mg. He was also charged with offences under the Highway Traffic Act and Compulsory Automobile Insurance act. He will appear in court on Nov. 4, 2016.

Theft from cars

Over the weekend the Guelph Police received four reports from Guelph residents about thefts from their cars. The locations were Woodlawn Road East, Couling Crescent, Lowes Road West and Eramosa Road.

This crime is easily avoided by locking your cars, keeping valuables out of sight or removed from your vehicle and parked in a well-lit and visible area where possible. Assault investigation

On Oct. 16, 2016 at 9 p.m., the Guelph Police received the report of an assault. A 51-year-old male was walking home on Huron Street when he was allegedly assaulted by multiple suspects. He was treated at Guelph General Hospital for his injuries. He was unable to provide any descriptions.
