Multiple crews respond to fire at Waste Innovation Centre

The cause of the fire along with an estimate of damage is still under investigation

On Thursday, Dec. 7 at approximately 12 p.m., Guelph Police and the Guelph Fire Department responded to a reported fire at (the Waste Innovation Centre, 10 Dunlop Dr.). Fire Units from Elizabeth Street, Stone Road, Speedvale Avenue and Wyndham Street stations arrived at the scene and found light smoke coming from the organic recycling building.

The fire was quickly brought under control and subsequently extinguished. Crews from two fire stations stayed on scene as a precaution.

There were no injuries, all personnel was evacuated.

The cause of the fire along with an estimate of damage is still under investigation.
