Not wearing a helmet nets charges for dirt biker, police say

Police report that the driver had an odour of alcohol on his breath and refused to give a breath sample

TOWN OF MINTO - On Nov. 1, 2019 at approximately 11:30 p.m. a member of the Wellington County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) investigated the operator of a dirt bike on William Street north in Clifford that was not wearing a helmet.

While police were speaking with the operator, an odour of an alcoholic beverage was detected on his breath. A Roadside Screening Device test demand was read, which the operator refused to comply with.

Jacob Allan Lamb, 28-years-old of Clifford has been charged with fail or refuse to comply with demand contrary to the Criminal Code and fail to wear proper helmet on a motorcycle contrary to the Highway Traffic Act.

A 90-day Administrative Driver's Licence Suspension (A.D.L.S.) and seven-day vehicle impoundment was initiated as per statute.

 The accused will appear in the Ontario court of justice - Guelph on Dec. 3, 2019 to speak to the charge.
