On Feb. 23, 2018 at approximately 6:30 p.m., Guelph police were contacted by staff at a business on Essex Street about a suspicious person. A male reportedly committed a theft at the establishment and was fleeing the area. Police also received a report that the male may be in possession of a weapon.
At approximately 10:30 p.m., the male was located and arrested.
This investigation resulted in Grant Cadeau, a 29-year-old Guelph male, being charged with the following charges:
• Assault with a weapon (knife)
• Weapons dangerous
• Trespass by night
• Possession of a controlled substance
• Two counts of breaching his probation order
He was held for a bail hearing that occurred on Feb. 24, 2018. There were no injuries in this incident.
