Off-duty cop spots vehicle with extensive front-end damage. Driver charged with impaired

On May 29, 2019 at 6:42 p.m., an off-duty Peel Regional Police officer called in a possible impaired driver. The vehicle had been on the Hanlon Expressway and turned east on Woodlawn Road. The vehicle had extensive front-end damage.

The vehicle eventually stopped at a parking lot at Woodlawn Road and Woolwich Street. The officer detained the female driver until Guelph Police arrived. The woman did appear to be impaired by alcohol and she was arrested. She provided breath samples at the Guelph Police station that showed she had nearly twice the legal limit of alcohol in her system.

The 25-year-old Cambridge woman has been charged with operation while impaired – blood alcohol concentration and operation while impaired - alcohol. She was also charged under the Highway Traffic Act with drive – no licence. She will appear in court on June 14, 2019.
