Officer assaulted while arresting suspect, say police

On the evening of Nov. 3, 2019, an adult male left a restaurant located in the downtown area of the City Guelph, [allegedly] refusing to pay.

A short time later, police located the male near the transit hub, and attempted to arrest him. During the course of the arrest, the male kicked the officer twice.

A 44-year-old Guelph male has been charged with:
    •    Assault police
    •    Obtain food by fraud
    •    Breach probation

He will appear in court on Dec. 20, 2019.

Please note that there were no injuries resulting from this incident.
