Three accused of racing on the Hanlon Expressway

Vehicles, in separate incidents, were each locked in on radar in excess of 135 km/h

 On Aug. 1, 2019 at approximately 1:40 p.m., a Wellington County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) officer was monitoring traffic and conducting speed enforcement on the Hanlon Expressway near Laird Road in the City of Guelph. 

The officer observed a grey motor vehicle travelling northbound at a speed that appeared to be well above the posted 80 km/h speed limit. The vehicle was locked on radar in excess of 135 km/h.

Terez Toos, 56 years old of Guelph has been charged with racing a motor Vehicle contrary to the Highway Traffic Act and is scheduled to appear in Guelph Provincial Court on Oct. 2, 2019. The accused's driver's licence and vehicle were seized for a period of seven days as per statute.

On Aug. 4, 2019 at approximately 10 p.m., a Wellington County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) officer was monitoring traffic and conducting speed enforcement on the Hanlon Expressway near Laird Road in the City of Guelph. The officer observed a silver sport utility vehicle travelling southbound at a speed that appeared to be well above the posted 80 km/h speed limit. The vehicle was locked on radar in excess of 135 km/h.

Dewan Asheque Ahmed, 37 years old of Scarborough has been charged with racing a motor vehicle contrary to the Highway Traffic Act and is scheduled to appear in Guelph Provincial Court on Oct. 2, 2019. The accused's driver's licence and vehicle were seized for a period of seven days as per statute.

On Aug. 4, 2019 at approximately 7:35 p.m., a Wellington County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) officer was monitoring traffic and conducting speed enforcement on the Hanlon Expressway near Laird Road in the City of Guelph. The officer observed a white motor vehicle travelling northbound at a speed that appeared to be well above the posted 80 km/h speed limit. The vehicle was locked on radar in excess of 145 km/h.

Daniel Vannin-Novoa, 27 years old of London has been charged with racing a motor vehicle contrary to the Highway Traffic Act and is scheduled to appear in Guelph Provincial Court on Oct. 2, 2019. The accused's driver's licence and vehicle were seized for a period of seven days as per statute.
