GUELPH-ERAMOSA - On Apr. 18, 2017, at approximately 10:30 a.m. members of the Wellington County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) received a call about an assault which had taken place the day before at 148 Main Street North, Rockwood.
Investigation revealed that between the hours of 4 p.m. and 5 p.m. Apr. 17, 2017, two men, known to each other, became involved in a verbal and physical altercation. As the altercation escalated the accused [allegedly] left and returned with a weapon, threatening to harm the victim.
53-year-old John Nicholson, of Rockwood, has been charged with assault with a weapon contrary to the Criminal Code.
He was released on a promise to appear and is scheduled to appear Jun. 16, 2017 in Guelph Criminal Court to answer to the charge.
