A woman who allegedly acted as lookout while her accomplice stole packages and broke into mailboxes last month has been arrested.

On Feb. 26 at 12:40 a.m. a man and woman attended an apartment building on Dawson Road. The male used a knife to open the front door then used the same knife to pry open two mailboxes and steal the mail inside while the female stood watch. The incident was captured on surveillance video.

The next afternoon, approximately 4:45 p.m., the pair were walking on Queen Street when the male went onto the porch of a residence and removed two Amazon packages while the female stood watch. The theft was again captured on surveillance video.

Police were able to identify the suspects. A 48-year-old male already in custody on unrelated matters faces several charges of break and enter, theft and breaching court orders.

On Thursday a 33-year-old female was arrested at an address on Waterloo Avenue. She is similarly charged with break and enter, possessing break and enter instruments, theft of mail, theft under $5,000 and several breaches. She will appear in a Guelph court April 29, 2022.
