Police catch up with suspended driver

On Nov. 17, 2018 at approximately 3:54 p.m., Guelph Police observed Dillon Popyk, a 30-year-old Guelph male, driving northbound on the Hanlon Expressway near Wellington Street. Police drove beside the vehicle and observed Popyk driving. 

Police activated their lights, and Popyk sped away, reaching speeds over 120 km/hr. Police did not pursue the vehicle for public safety. 

As a result, a warrant was requested for Popyk for three counts of breaching his Probation, Flight From Police, two counts of Drive While Under Suspension, and Drive Motor Vehicle-No Validation on Plate. 

On Dec. 17, 2018 Popyk was arrested on the strength of the warrant.  He is scheduled to appear in court on Feb. 1, 2019.
