Police handed out 15 tickets during a traffic safety blitz around elementary schools on Thursday.

Police targeted reckless driving habits near elementary schools on Thursday, handing out 15 tickets during morning drop-off and afternoon pick-up.

Twelve of those tickets were for speeding – traveling in excess of 20 km/h over the posted 40 km/h signs, with reduced speed limits in certain areas when signals flashing.

One ticket was issued for driving with an unrestrained child passenger.

“Motorists are reminded to exercise caution and good driving habits at all times when driving, and especially when passing through an area shared with a significant number of young pedestrians,” states a news release.
