Police searching for rider of motorcycle that burst into flames

The man took off after rear-ending a vehicle and the motorcycle caught fire, say police

Guelph police are trying to identify a motorcyclist who fled a fiery crash near downtown Wednesday afternoon.

Approximately 4:10 p.m., police were called to the intersection of Eramosa Road and King Street. A motorcycle had rear-ended a motor vehicle and then burst into flames. As the motorcycle burned in the middle of the road, its driver fled on foot northbound on King Street.

He was described as approximately five-foot-10, 50 years of age with dark hair and a beard. He was possibly wearing a black leather jacket over a red plaid shirt, black backpack and a black helmet.

The collision remains under investigation. Anyone with information is asked to call Const.
