Police are looking to return jewelry to its rightful owner after finding the items Tuesday morning as a result of a vehicle theft arrest.
The jewelry was discovered in a backpack following a brief foot chase that began after police approached a man while he pumped gas at a Silvercreek Parkway North business at about 11:25 a.m.
Investigation revealed the vehicle had been reported stolen in Wellington County.
In addition to the jewelry, police recovered a spring-assisted knife, keys for two vehicles, cheques and identification.
As a result, a 28-year-old Guelph man is charged with possessing stolen property over $5,000, possessing a prohibited weapon, driving while suspended and several breaches of court orders.
Anyone who recognizes the jewelry or is able to identify its owner is asked to call Const. Josh van Breda at 519-824-1212 ext. 7417 or email him at [email protected].
