Police seize suspected heroin, methamphetamine at RIDE check

TOWNSHIP OF PUSLINCH - On Friday, May 10, 2019, members of the Wellington County Ontario Provincial Police (O.P.P.) were conducting a Reduce Impaired Driving Everywhere (RIDE) check on Townline Road in Puslinch.

At approximately 11 p.m., a vehicle entered the RIDE check. While speaking with the driver, police observed drug paraphernalia within the vehicle.

Investigation led to the arrest of the driver and the seizure of small amounts of heroin, methamphetamine, and cannabis. 

Isaac Richard Finch, 37-years-old, of Cambridge was charged with:

  • Possession of a controlled substance contrary to the Controlled Drug and Substances Act (Two counts)
  • Drive vehicle with cannabis readily available contrary to the Controlled Cannabis Act 2017

Wellington County OPP would like to remind everyone that drivers cannot have cannabis in a road vehicle or boat, whether or not it is in motion, unless the cannabis is in its original, unopened packaging or is packed in closed baggage and unavailable to any person in the vehicle or boat.
