On the 21st of December, 2019 a 76-year-old male was reported missing by his family. Police were informed that the male was a member of Project Lifesaver, and they immediately deployed the necessary equipment.

Project Lifesaver is a search and rescue program operated internationally by public safety agencies and is strategically designed for “at-risk” individuals who are prone to the life-threatening behaviour of wandering. The primary mission of Project Lifesaver is to provide a timely response to save lives and reduce potential injury for adults and children with the inclination to wander due to a cognitive condition.

In this particular incident, the male party was reported missing to police at 1:49 p.m. and was quickly located by Project Lifesaver trained officers at 2:15 p.m.

If you have a family member that may benefit from Project Lifesaver, or if you have any questions, please contact Liz Kent at [email protected] or visit the Victim Services Wellington website at vswguelph.on.ca.
