Reckless rider charged with resist arrest

He is also accused of careless driving (a bicycle)

On June 30, 2018 at approximately 7:45 p.m. while on routine patrol, Guelph Police Bike Patrol observed a wanted male in the downtown area. When approached by police, the male fled on foot resulting in a foot pursuit. The male then took a bicycle from a property and rode south on Farquhar Street. The male rode the bicycle in a reckless manner without any regard for pedestrians and other roadway users. After a struggle with police officers, the male was arrested on Raymond Street.

As a result, a 38-year-old Guelph male was charged under the Highway Traffic Act with careless driving and cyclist - fail to stop, and additionally charged with resist arrest. He was held for a bail hearing.
