St. Patrick’s Day was a relatively quiet affair in Guelph, report police.

Police and bylaw broke up several small parties and investigated a number of noise complaints throughout the afternoon and evening Wednesday but did not encounter any major issues.

The Guelph Police Service laid 10 charges under the Liquor License Act for charges such as open alcohol in public.

Police also set up Reduce Impaired Driving Everywhere (RIDE) spot checks at various locations in the city. Approximately 680 vehicles were checked. Officers administered 14 approved screening device breath tests resulting in two three-day suspensions but no criminal charges.
