A Guelph man faces robbery and drug charges after a woman had her cellphone stolen Sunday evening, report Guelph police.

Police were called just after 8 p.m. to an address on Waterloo Avenue. The victim said she was confronted by a male known to her and they got into an argument. The confrontation turned physical when the male struck the female several times and stole her cellphone, she reported.

Officers located the male nearby and retrieved the phone. During a search incident to arrest several baggies were located containing small amounts of suspected crystal methamphetamine and heroin, as well as several pieces of identification in other people’s names.

A 48-year-old Guelph male is charged with robbery, three counts of possessing a controlled substance, possessing identity documents and two counts of breaching court orders. He was held for a bail hearing Monday.
