Single-vehicle crash into hydro pole results in electrical burn injuries for driver

The cause of the collision near Guelph Lake is being investigated

On Oct. 27, 2019 at approximately 11 a.m., Wellington County Ontario Provincial Police responded to a serious collision involving a single motor vehicles on Wellington Road 29, south of Wellington Road 124 near Guelph Lake. Initial reports indicated that a silver sedan had lost control and struck a hydro pole causing electrical lines to fall across the road. The driver received electric-burn injuries when they exited the vehicle.

OPP, Guelph/Eramosa Fire Department, Guelph Wellington Paramedics Service, and Hydro One attended the scene. The 20-year-old driver from Orangeville was transported to a local hospital with non-life threatening injuries.

The cause of the collision is being investigated. The roadway was closed for approximately five hours.
