Someone set a boat on fire Wednesday night in Guelph

Guelph police investigating after someone set a boat on fire Wednesday evening.

Approximately 5:10 p.m. officers were patrolling near Eramosa Road and Stevenson Street North when they saw flames and smoke coming from a boat parked in a business parking lot. The Guelph Fire Department attended and quickly extinguished the fire. Materials including a barbecue lighter, rags and an empty bottle of alcohol were located inside.

Nearby surveillance video captured two people on the boat before jumping down and running away around the time the fire started. The first was believed to be a male wearing a red jacket over a white hoodie, grey track pants and a backpack. The second is believed to be a female wearing all black clothing and a backpack.

Damage is estimated at $10,000.
