A Guelph female already in custody for several theft and fraud charges was charged Tuesday for ripping off a cab driver.

On April 1 the female ordered a taxi to her west-end residence. Following the ride the female said she could not pay for the ride and fled. The driver later noticed her wallet containing cash and bank cards was missing, report Guelph police.

Later that evening the female went to a convenience store close to her home and bought lottery tickets and cigarettes using the taxi driver’s cash and debit card.

A 27-year-old Guelph female is charged with theft under $5,000, transportation fraud, possessing stolen property, possessing a credit card and use of a stolen credit card.

She was arrested April 8 for allegedly repeatedly breaking into an elderly neighbour’s apartment as well as participating in an online puppy scam and has been in custody since that time.

The female will appear in a Guelph court on the new charges July 27.
