Tactical unit called to local motel after man refuses to leave

On Dec. 25, 2018 at approximately 12:10 p.m., Guelph police received a call from a north end hotel that a customer was refusing to leave. Further to refusing to leave, the customer allegedly advised staff that he had a weapon in the room. Guelph police tactical officers attended and were able to negotiate a peaceful apprehension of the male.

Christopher Sutherland, a 35-year-old Guelph male, was wanted on a warrant for mischief under and theft. The related incident occurred on Dec. 22, 2018 and involves a separate north end hotel. The male was given a Feb. 8, 2019 court date.
