A teenager is charged with assault after a stranger was assaulted early Thursday, say Guelph police.
Approximately 1:45 a.m. a group of people were gathered on gathered on Wyndham Street North when they were approached by a male, who shoved one of them to the ground. The victim sustained a facial injury.
The assailant was arrested nearby after attempting to flee and was found to be heavily intoxicated. He was transported to the police station to be held until a parent could pick him up.
A 17-year-old Guelph male is charged with assault, consuming alcohol under age and being intoxicated in a public place.
