Police say angry man came at neighbour with a screwdriver, then resisted arrest

A 35-year-old Guelph man faces charges after a neighbour dispute Saturday afternoon.

A resident of a townhouse complex on College Avenue West near Janefield Avenue called police about 2:50 p.m. He said he was outside working on his car when a neighbour began yelling at him and came at him with a screwdriver in his hand. The victim was not injured.

Police arrived a short time later and said that while attempting to arrest the male he began resisting and trying to pull away. The male’s spouse also got involved, grabbing officers and interrupting the arrest, report police.

The man was charged with assault with a weapon and obstruct with intent to resist arrest.  A 34-year-old Guelph woman was charged with obstruct police.

Both will appear in a Guelph court May 4.
