Theft suspect arrested at scene, property recovered

TOWNSHIP OF CENTRE WELLINGTON – On Oct. 5, 2020 at approximately 3 a.m., Wellington County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) responded to a report of a theft in progress at an address on Wellington Road 29 east of Fergus.  

It was reported that a suspect was observed stealing scrap metal while on the property. Upon police arrival, a suspect was arrested without incident and the stolen property was recovered.  

Jonathan Bellamy, 32-years-old of the Township of Centre Wellington, has been charged with theft under $5,000 and possession of property obtained by crime contrary to the Criminal Code of Canada.

The accused is scheduled to appear in the Ontario Court of Justice-Guelph on Nov. 3, 2020.
