Traffic enforcers take flight in Wellington County

(COUNTY OF WELLINGTON, ON) - On June 12 and June 14, 2019, Wellington County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) Traffic Management Unit (TMU) was engaged in a traffic enforcement initiative. Analysis of high problem areas within Wellington were targeted for speeding, aggressive driving and other unsafe driving practices. Through a combination of airplane surveillance and interceptor engagement, officers laid a number of charges.

Charges include 37 speeding, one stunt driving, four seatbelt, one fail to move over and 10 other highway traffic act. In addition, 14 commercial motor vehicle drivers were charged with following too close.

"It's not every day that we get to utilize these high-tech tools exclusively in Wellington. Rest assured that when we have the opportunity we will maximize our efforts to make our roads safer." Wellington County OPP Manager, Staff Sgt. Bruce Aitken.
