Guelph Police Service dealt with 232 calls for service

The following news releases were issued today by the Guelph Police Service:

Transportation fraud - arrest
On April 22, 2019 at 4:50 a.m., the Guelph Police went to a Paisley Road location to assist a cab driver with a passenger refusing to pay. Investigation discovered that the man had been arrested on April 20, 2019 for refusing to pay for a cab fare and had no means to pay for this fare.

The 53-year-old Guelph man has been charged with transportation fraud. He will appear in court on June 5, 2019.

Breaching conditions - arrest
On April 22, 2019, at 11:20 p.m., the Guelph Police went to the Gordon Street downtown area for the report of a man trying to enter cars. Police located the man and investigation discovered that he was breaching a court-imposed curfew.

The 26-year-old Brampton man has been charged with breach recognizance and breach probation He was held in custody pending a bail hearing.

Three arrested on warrants
A 36-year-old Guelph man arrested on a warrant for theft under.

A 22-year-old Guelph man arrested on a surety revocation warrant. He was held in custody pending a bail hearing.

A 30-year-old Guelph man arrested on three warrants. He was held in custody pending a bail hearing.

Break and enter
On April 22, 2019, the Guelph Police went to two Paisley Road condominium buildings for break and enters. Overnight, exterior doors were pried open and the storage areas entered. No theft is reported in either incident.

Broken window investigated
On April 22, 2019, the Guelph Police went to the TD Bank located downtown for the report that a window had been smashed. It is believed the damage occurred sometime between Saturday, April 21, 2019 at 4 p.m. and Sunday, April 22, 2019 at 9 a.m.
