Between March 29, 2018 and April 3, 2018, the Guelph Police Service dealt with 913 calls for service

The following news releases were issued today by the Guelph Police Service:

Theft arrest
On March 29, 2018 at approximately 11 a.m., Guelph police were called to a south end department store, where there was a report of a theft. Police learned that security at the store had initiated a theft investigation on March 28, 2018 where there were two suspects. Police were able to identify the two suspects in this incident.

On April 1, 2018 Kaila Spencer, a 19-year-old female, and Tyler Mokren-Cox, a 21-year-old male, were arrested and charged with theft under $5,000. They were given a May 18, 2018 court date.

Theft/fraud arrest
On August 29, 2017, Guelph police were called to a south end department store, where there was a report of fraudulent activity. Investigation lead to the identity of the suspect and a warrant was issued for her arrest.

On March 29, 2018, Waterloo Regional Police officers located the female and arrested her. Chanelle Cheeseman, a 24-year-old Waterloo woman, was charged with uttering counterfeit bank note and theft under $5,000. She was given a May 8, 2018 court date.

Internal business theft
On March 30, 2018 Guelph police were called to a business in the west end of the city, where there was a report of an internal theft. Police attended and a suspect was identified. On April 1, 2018, Ali Hamzi, a 23-year-old Guelph male, was arrested and charged with theft under $5,000. He was given a May 15, 2018 court date.

Downtown assault - arrest
On March 31, 2018 at approximately 2:15 a.m., Guelph police went to a disturbance at a business on Carden Street. Investigation alleges a staff member at the business was assaulted by a male. David Meghan, a 28-year-old Mississauga man, was arrested and charged with assault. He was given a May 11, 2018 court date.

Downtown theft arrest
On March 31, 2018 at approximately 4:30 a.m., Guelph police were called to a business on Carden Street, where there was a report of a theft. Investigation led to the identification of a suspect. At 4:43 a.m., Joseph Stafford, a 35-year-old Guelph man, was arrested and charged with theft under $5,000, possession of stolen property and breaching his probation order. He was given a May 18, 2018 court date.

Unlawfully in a dwelling
On March 28, 2018 at approximately 7:20 a.m., Guelph police were called to a Speedvale Avenue East residence, where there was a report of a disturbance. Investigation revealed the identity of a suspect, who is alleged to have caused the disturbance.

On March 31, 2018 at approximately 7 p.m., Reynold Lal, a 45-year-old Guelph male, was charged with unlawfully in a dwelling. He was given a May 8, 2018 court date.

Unruly male
On April 1, 2018 at approximately 8:35 p.m., Guelph police were called to a Wyndham Street North business, where there was a report of an unruly male. Police arrived and located the suspect in this incident. Karl Trento, a 23-year-old male, was arrested and charged with three counts of breaching his probation order. He was given a May 11, 2018 court date.

Break and enter - arrest
On April 1, 2018 at approximately 11:45 p.m., Guelph police attended a Willow Road residential apartment building, where there was a report of a break and enter. Investigation led to the identity of a suspect in this incident.

On April 2, 2018 at approximately 2:10 a.m., Guelph police located the male and placed him under arrest. Jason Snyders, a 45-year-old Guelph male, was charged with break and enter, two counts of possessing break-in instruments and possession of stolen property. He was held for a bail hearing that occurred on April 2, 2018.

Suspicious male - arrest
On April 2, 2018, at approximately 2:20 a.m. while on routine patrol, Guelph police observed a suspicious male in the area of Speedvale Avenue and Woolwich Street. The male, who was on a bicycle, was stopped and spoken to. As a result of this conversation, the male was arrested for breaching a Recognizance of Bail. Police allege that the male was further found to be in possession of break-in tools and a controlled substance. In total, Tyler Strobbe, a 26-year-old Guelph male, was charged with possession of a controlled substance, possession of break-in tools, two counts of breaching an order of recognizance and two counts of breaching his probation order. He was held for a bail hearing that occurred on April 2, 2018.

Unwanted person
On April 2, 2018 at approximately 11 a.m., Guelph police were called to a north end motel, where there was a report of an unwanted person. It is alleged that an individual renting a room requested assistance when a female refused to leave when asked. Police arrived and located the female. As a result of this investigation, a 48-year-old Guelph female was arrested and charged with two counts of possession of a controlled substance and two counts of breaching her probation order. She was held for a bail hearing.

Obstruct police arrest
On March 23, 2018 at approximately 11:40 p.m., Guelph police were called to a residential building on Carden Street. While there, unrelated to the call, police had a brief interaction with a male. The male is alleged to have spoken briefly with police and then ran away. Officers investigated the male further and allege he gave them a false name as he was breaching an order of recognizance. The correct identity of the male was confirmed and a warrant for his arrest was issued.

On April 2, 2018 at approximately 2:40 p.m. the male was located and arrested. The 35-year-old male was charged with obstruct police and breaching his recognizance of bail. He was held for a bail hearing.

Male found breaching conditions
On April 2, 2018 at approximately 4 p.m. while on routine patrol, Guelph police observed a male in a residential building located on Carden Street. The male is known to police and further was known to be breaching conditions. The 44-year-old Guelph male was charged with two counts of breaching his officer in charge undertaking. He was held for a bail hearing.

Break and enter investigations
On March 29, 2018, the Guelph Police went to a Brant Avenue residential building to investigate a break and enter. The culprit(s) entered a laundry facility sometime on March 28, 2018, caused damage and stole money. Anyone who may have information about this incident is asked to contact Cst M. On March 29, 2018, the Guelph Police went to a Sunnylea Crescent residential building to investigate a break and enter. The culprit(s) entered a laundry facility sometime on March 28, 2018, caused damage and stole money. Anyone who may have information about this incident is asked to contact Cst V. On April 1, 2018, the Guelph Police went to an Emma Street residential building to investigate a break and enter. The culprit(s) entered a laundry facility sometime overnight and caused damage. Anyone who may have information about this incident is asked to contact Cst M. Ball at 519-824-1212 at ext. 7525. On April 1, 2018, the Guelph Police went to an Alma Street North residence to investigate a break and enter. The culprit(s) entered sometime between March 30, 2018 and April 1, 2018 and stole jewelry and electronics. Anyone who may have information about this incident is asked to contact Cst D. On April 2, 2018, the Guelph Police went to a Division Street residence to investigate a break and enter. The culprit(s) entered a garage at approximately 6:30 p.m. and stole a pair of shoes.
