On August 16, 2016 at 12:53 a.m., the Guelph Police went to the Omar Street area after receiving the complaint of a crashing noise and two males running from a car.

Two youths arrested

On August 16, 2016 at 12:53 a.m., the Guelph Police went to the Omar Street area after receiving the complaint of a crashing noise and two males running from a car. Police located the males on Paisley Road within minutes but the two fled on foot from police. The two were located shortly after on Bagot Street with the assistance of canine and they were arrested. Investigation determined that the vehicle that they had been in was stolen.

A 15-year-old Guelph male has been charged with theft over $5,000, possession of property over $5,000 and escape lawful custody. He was also charged under the Highway Traffic Act with careless driving and drive motor vehicle - no licence. He will appear in court on September 28, 2016.

Break and enter

On August 15, 2016 at 7:30 a.m., the Guelph Police went to a Dunlop Drive business to investigate a break and enter. The culprit(s) entered the office area through a rear window and stole laptops and other small items.

On August 15, 2016 at 8:30 a.m., the Guelph Police went to a Chancellors Way construction site to investigate a break and enter. The culprit(s) broke into a trailer sometime over the weekend and stole keys.

On August 15, 2016 at 8:30 a.m., the Guelph Police went to a Dawson Road business to investigate a break and enter. The culprit(s) broke into a storage container sometime over the weekend.

On August 15, 2016 at 10:50 a.m., the Guelph Police went to a Gordon Street construction site to investigate a break and enter. The complainant was able to follow footprints to a nearby location where he located his stolen property as well as other items hidden in bushes.

On August 15, 2016 at 8:38 a.m., the Guelph Police went to a Sweeney Drive construction site to investigate a break and enter. The culprit(s) entered the gated site sometime over the weekend and stole multiple items.

Theft from cars

On August 15, 2016 the Guelph Police received two reports from Guelph residents about thefts from their cars. The locations were Stanley Street and Westmount Road.

This crime is easily avoided by locking your cars, keeping valuables out of sight or removed from your vehicle and parked in a well-lit and visible area where possible. Garbage bin fire

On August 15, 2016 at 7:58 p.m., the Guelph Police went to Ken Danby School for the report that a fire had been started in the garbage bins by two male youths. They left the area when the complainant yelled at them. Guelph Fire attended and put out the fire.

The males are described as 14-15 years, one was wearing a white hoodie or jacket and was on a bike. The second male was wearing a red jacket. They were last seen heading west on Grange.
